Windermere serves as the Lake District's railway gateway, connected to the M6 via the A591 through Kendal. The A592 leads east over Kirkstone Pass, whilst local routes wind through the fells to Ambleside and beyond. With over 40 EV charging points nearby, it's well-equipped for electric touring. The town retains the distinction of housing the National Park's only railway station, unchanged since Victorian times.
