Whitstable perches on Kent's north coast, renowned for its working harbour and ancient oyster beds. The town sits where the Thames Estuary meets the North Sea, 60 miles east of London and just 8 miles from Canterbury. Most visitors arrive via the M2 to Junction 7, then the A299 and A290 into town. The harbour's wooden pier, called The Street, extends 100 metres into the sea but disappears completely at high tide.
