Whitebridge lies on Loch Ness's southeastern shore, about 25 miles southwest of Inverness via the scenic B862 through Stratherrick. The village serves as a convenient stop on the Loch Ness circuit, with the A82 from Fort Augustus connecting to the B862 for the final 8-mile approach. The settlement takes its name from General Wade's distinctive white-painted 1730s bridge spanning the River Oich.
