Whinhall forms part of greater Airdrie in North Lanarkshire, about 15 kilometers east of Glasgow via the A8 and M8 motorway. The M73 and A89 provide additional connections to the wider Central Belt, whilst over 200 fast charging points serve electric vehicles throughout the area. The town sits amongst the rolling former mining landscape typical of this part of Scotland, where old colliery sites have been transformed into modern housing and green spaces. The nearby Bothwell Bridge Lido remains one of Scotland's few surviving early 20th-century outdoor swimming pools.
