Westward Ho! perches on Devon's Atlantic coast, reached via the A386 from Bideford. The A39 provides the main coastal link, whilst the M5 connects long-distance visitors through Exeter. Named after Kingsley's novel, it's Britain's only place with an exclamation mark. The settlement sits behind a remarkable 2-mile pebble ridge that shields it from Atlantic storms.
