Westoe forms part of South Shields in South Tyneside, easily reached via the A194 and A183 from Newcastle (12km northwest) or the A1(M) from further afield. The Tyne Tunnel connects directly from North Tyneside. Over 350 EV charging points serve the area. The district maintains links to Roman heritage through nearby Segedunum fort, where soldiers once manned Hadrian's Wall's eastern terminus.
