West Tanfield occupies a lovely spot in the Ure Valley between Ripon and Masham, reached via the A6108 through prime Yorkshire countryside. Most visitors approach from the A1(M) at Junction 50, then follow the A61 through Ripon before picking up the valley road. The village makes an excellent base for exploring the Dales, with over 30 EV charging points scattered around the area. The standout feature is Marmion Tower, a magnificent 15th-century gatehouse ruin that dominates the village centre.
