Wallridge is a small Northumberland village about 20km northwest of Newcastle, reached via the A696 from the city or A1. It's handy for exploring Hadrian's Wall country whilst staying in peaceful countryside. The village retains a medieval pele tower, built as protection against Border Reivers.
