Virkie marks the southern gateway to Shetland, minutes from Sumburgh Airport on the A970. This remote settlement provides access to dramatic coastlines and Jarlshof's 4,000-year archaeological site. The single main road runs 37 miles north to Lerwick, whilst local routes serve nearby Toab and Scatness.
