Upton sits along the N25 in County Cork, about 35 kilometres east of Cork city on the main route to Waterford. It's a handy stop in the Blackwater Valley where the hills roll down to good farmland. You can take the M8 from Dublin then pick up the N25, or go the scenic route through Mallow on the N72 if you've time to spare. The town sits near where several streams meet the Blackwater, and the old post office on the main street still serves as the community notice board where locals advertise everything from farm gear to hurling fixtures.
