Popular routes include scenic drives to neighboring Saddleworth villages like Dobcross and Delph, plus the moorland crossing to Holmfirth via the A635. The village hosts the annual Rushcart Festival each August, where decorated carts topped with rushes are carried through the streets in a centuries-old tradition.
