Upperchurch

united kingdom

united kingdom

Upperchurch perches in the Slieve Felim Hills about 25 kilometres northeast of Limerick, reached via the N7 then R503 through Murroe before winding hill roads take you up. The village sits at 200 metres elevation with grand views over Tipperary countryside. It's a handy weekend escape from Dublin, roughly 160 kilometres down the N7. The name comes from "An Teampall Uachtarach" meaning "the upper church," as there was once a lower church down in the valley that's long gone now.
