Upper Armley occupies elevated ground in west Leeds, connected to the city centre via the A647 Stanningley Road and A65 Kirkstall Road. The M621 and M62 provide motorway access, whilst local routes serve Bramley and Kirkstall through the area's characteristic hillside streets. The district houses HMP Leeds, a Victorian prison that's been operating from the same building since 1847.
