Uags

Scotland

Scotland

Uags lies on the remote Applecross Peninsula in Wester Ross, reached via the notorious Bealach na Bà mountain pass from the A896 or the coastal route through Shieldaig. Both involve challenging single-track driving with steep gradients and hairpin bends. Most visitors combine it with longer Highland tours, whilst locals use it for accessing the scattered crofting communities. The village's name derives from the Gaelic for caves, referring to the limestone sea caves you can explore at low tide beneath the settlement.
