Tynagh is a small village in east Galway on the R355 between Loughrea and Portumna, about 45 kilometres from Galway city via the M6 and R446. It's handy for exploring the midlands, with good connections to Athlone and decent electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the area. The village sits near extensive cutaway boglands, former turf harvesting sites that are being transformed into wildlife habitats and recreational areas, creating an unusual landscape of shallow wetlands.
