Tough is a small Aberdeenshire village about 40km west of Aberdeen via the A944. It sits in the Howe of Alford among rolling farmland where the Don Valley widens. Local roads connect it to nearby communities like Alford and Tillyfourie, serving daily traffic between Aberdeen and rural settlements. The village name comes from the Gaelic "tuath," meaning north.
