Tondu lies in the Llynfi Valley along the A4063, about 4 miles north of M4 Junction 36. This former mining village connects the valleys to the coast, with Cardiff roughly 45 minutes southeast. The A4063 continues north toward Maesteg, whilst local roads link neighbouring communities like Aberkenfig. Over 60 EV charging points serve the area. The village maintains its railway station on the scenic Maesteg Line, where heritage trains still run regular passenger services to Cardiff.
