Tirril is a small Cumbrian village just off the A6 between Penrith and the Lake District. Most visitors pass through en route to Ullswater or use it as a quieter alternative to the M6 when heading south. The village sits in the sheltered Eden Valley with milder weather than the surrounding fells. Hadrian's Wall runs directly through the area, with impressive Roman remains visible at nearby Brougham Castle.
