Thurstonfield is a small Cumbrian village about 10km northwest of Carlisle on the Solway Plain. Reach it via the A596 from Carlisle, turning off through Great Orton, or take the B5307 from Thursby. The M6 and A74(M) provide longer-distance connections through Carlisle. St. Bartholomew's Church houses remarkable 12th-century wall paintings that survived the Reformation.
