Thurston lies along the A1088 between Bury St Edmunds and Diss, making it a handy stop for those travelling through Suffolk's countryside. The village sits on the main London to Norwich railway line, with many locals combining car and train for longer journeys. Most driving routes head south to the A14 for connections to Cambridge, Ipswich, or the M11. The original Victorian signal box at the railway station still manually controls the level crossing.
