Thurlstone is a small Pennine village in South Yorkshire, positioned between Penistone and Barnsley in the rolling hills east of Manchester. Access is via the A635 from Barnsley or the A628 through Penistone, with the M1 about 15km east for longer journeys. The village maintains one of the region's few remaining traditional brass bands, which performs at the annual summer fair on the village green.
