Thringarth lies in upper Teesdale, surrounded by Pennine moorland and a cluster of historic County Durham settlements. The A67 provides the main link eastward to Darlington and the A1(M), whilst local roads connect to neighbouring Bowbank, Grasholme and Middleton in Teesdale.
