Thixendale occupies a secluded valley in the Yorkshire Wolds, reached via winding lanes from the A166 or A614. The village sits in splendid isolation, surrounded by chalk downs and accessible only by a single road that descends steeply into the valley. It's a popular stop on the Wolds Way and notable for being one of England's most remote villages, completely encircled by hills.
