Thirn is a small North Yorkshire village just off the A6108 between Masham and Bedale. Most visitors arrive via the A1(M) at Junction 51, then follow the A684 and A6108 through typical Dales countryside of stone-walled fields and gentle hills. The village sits close enough to RAF Leeming that military training flights are a constant backdrop to village life.
