Terryglass is a small lakeside village on Lough Derg in County Tipperary, reached via the R493 from Nenagh about 20 kilometres away. From Dublin, take the M7 west to Junction 23 at Birdhill, then follow signs through Nenagh. The village sits in a sheltered spot where the lake meets gentle hills, creating a mild pocket of weather. Most traffic runs between here and Nenagh for shops and services, with weekend sailors heading to the stone pier where traditional Shannon One Design boats race every summer, keeping alive a sailing tradition that's over a century old.
