Temple lies in Cornwall's moorland country, roughly halfway between Bodmin and the china clay district. Access is via country lanes from the A38 at Dobwalls or through Bodmin from the A30. Most visitors arrive from the A30 corridor, whilst locals use the shorter routes through the Glynn Valley. The village takes its name from the medieval Knights Templar who once held lands here.
