Taghmaconnell is a small settlement in County Roscommon, about 8 kilometers northeast of Athlone along the N61. From Dublin, take the M6 west to Athlone, then the N61 north for roughly 130 kilometers total. The area sits in rolling midlands countryside near the Shannon, with two golf courses at Athlone and Glasson nearby drawing visitors. Athlone has around 25 fast charging stations for electric vehicles. You'll still find remnants of old bog roads here, narrow lanes that once crossed the extensive peatlands before modern drainage transformed the area.
