Swords
united kingdom
Swords is a former medieval town in north County Dublin that's become a major suburban hub, sitting just 13 kilometres from Dublin city center. The M1 motorway connects it south to Dublin in about 20 minutes, while the M50 orbital gives access to the wider metropolitan area. Local routes include the R132 through the village and connections to coastal Malahide and Portmarnock. Dublin Airport's proximity means loads of international traffic passes through, and there's plenty of EV charging infrastructure with around 400 public stations nearby. The town center still follows its medieval layout around the impressive ruins of Swords Castle, a 13th-century Norman fortress that was once the Archbishops of Dublin's summer residence.
