Swordly lies on Sutherland's north coast where the A99 meets scattered Highland settlements. Most visitors follow the North Coast 500 route, approaching via the A9 from Inverness then joining the coastal A99 near Berriedale. The area has approximately four EV charging points serving the wider region. The surrounding moorland contains numerous ancient archaeological sites including chambered cairns and Iron Age brochs.
