Stronsay is an Orkney island reached by ferry from Kirkwall (1.5 hours) or short flights from Kirkwall Airport. The island features several small settlements including Whitehall at the ferry terminal. Mill Bay boasts remarkable shell sand beaches where Victorian-era cowrie shells were once commercially harvested for button-making.
