Stamshaw forms part of Portsmouth's northern suburbs, reached via the A3(M) from London or the A27 coastal route. The A288 Stamshaw Road provides the main local connection from Portsmouth city centre, whilst the M275 links westward traffic. The area overlooks Tipner Lake, a former wartime seaplane base that once operated passenger flights to the Channel Islands.
