Sowerby Bridge is a former mill town in West Yorkshire's Calder Valley, positioned where the River Calder meets the Ryburn. The A58 provides the main connection to Halifax and onward to Manchester, whilst the M62 junction 24 offers motorway access. Local routes include the A646 through the valley and connections to nearby Hebden Bridge. With over 150 public EV chargers reflecting its position on cross-Pennine routes, the town serves commuters heading to Halifax or Leeds. The Rochdale Canal runs through the centre with working locks that still accommodate narrowboats.
