Southerness

Scotland

Scotland

Southerness occupies Scotland's southernmost coastal point on the Solway Firth, reached via the scenic A710 from Dumfries. The 25-kilometre coastal drive passes through New Abbey and Kirkbean before reaching this remote peninsula. Scotland's second-oldest lighthouse, dating from 1749, still operates here overlooking the Irish Sea.
