Somerley occupies a quiet corner of the Manhood Peninsula in West Sussex, reached via the A259 from Chichester then the B2145 through Birdham. The flat coastal landscape between Chichester Harbour and the sea attracts cyclists and walkers, whilst over 150 EV charging points serve the area. The peninsula's curious name derives from "Maene Wudu" - medieval common woodland reserved exclusively for local men.
