Snailbeach lies in the Shropshire hills, 15 miles southwest of Shrewsbury via the A488 and minor roads through Pontesbury. This former lead mining village sits beneath the Stiperstones ridge, accessible from Birmingham in about an hour via the A5. The dramatic quartzite formations of the Stiperstones create one of the county's most distinctive skylines directly above the village.
