Smerral lies along the A99 coastal road in Caithness, 2km from Latheronwheel and about 160km northeast of Inverness via the A9. This remote Highland settlement sits on dramatic cliffs above the North Sea, with roughly one EV charging point nearby for the sparse traffic heading between Wick and Helmsdale. The coastline here features some of mainland Scotland's most ancient and untouched geological formations.
