Sleights lies in the Esk Valley between the North York Moors and Whitby, connected by the A169 which links the coast to Pickering and York. Popular routes include the short hop to Whitby and longer journeys south through the moors to the A64. The village retains its Victorian railway station on the scenic Esk Valley line, still running regular passenger services between Middlesbrough and the coast.
