Skerray
Scotland
Scotland
Skerray perches on Sutherland's wild north coast, a scattered crofting community overlooking Torrisdale Bay towards distant Orkney. Reach it via the A99 from Thurso then coastal single-track roads, or inland from Tongue on the B873 - both routes demand careful driving but reward with spectacular scenery. The beach here stretches nearly two miles of pristine sand where corncrakes still call from the machair grassland on summer evenings.
