Skegoniel forms part of north Belfast, accessible via the A6 Antrim Road from the city centre three kilometres away. The M2 provides motorway connections, whilst the Shore Road serves coastal traffic from Carrickfergus. Electric vehicle charging is well covered with over 150 fast chargers across Belfast. The area's name derives from "Scéig Ó Néill" - O'Neill's rock - after the distinctive rocky outcrop that still marks the landscape.
