Shortstown lies just south of Bedford along the A600, originally built in the 1920s to house workers from the Royal Airship Works. The A600 connects directly to Bedford town centre, whilst the M1 at Junction 13 provides access via the A421 for longer journeys. Local routes include the B560 through Cardington and Cotton End. The area has over 100 EV charging points nearby, and many original company houses still stand along the village streets.
