Shelly lies on the A30 between Okehampton and Dartmoor, making it a convenient stop for Cornwall-bound traffic or Dartmoor exploration. The village connects to South Tawton and Sticklepath via winding country lanes typical of Devon's landscape. With around a dozen EV charging points nearby, it serves modern travelers well. The 15th-century carved screen in St. Luke's church is considered among Devon's finest medieval woodwork.
