Shannonbridge

united kingdom

united kingdom

Shannonbridge straddles the River Shannon where County Offaly meets Galway, built around one of central Ireland's most important river crossings. The town sits on the R444, connecting directly to the M6 at Athlone just 15 kilometers away, making it handy for Dublin (130km) and Galway (60km) runs. You can reach it from Birr via the R357 through lovely Offaly countryside. Electric vehicle drivers will find about 30 fast chargers in the area, particularly around Athlone and along the M6. The town's magnificent 16-arch stone bridge from 1757 still carries all the traffic and ranks as one of Ireland's longest stone bridges.
