Shanagarry
Ireland
Ireland
Shanagarry is a small coastal village in east Cork where farmland meets the Celtic Sea. From Cork city, take the N25 east for 25km, then the R632 south through Midleton - about 30 minutes' drive through fertile agricultural country. The village is famous as home to Ballymaloe House, where Myrtle Allen started Ireland's farm-to-table movement in the 1960s, turning a Georgian country house into one of the world's most influential restaurants. It's handy for exploring Trabolgan Holiday Village, the Jameson Experience at Midleton, and Castlemartyr Golf, with the R629 coastal road connecting to Ballycotton for grand sea views.
