Shaldon is a Devon estuary village connected to Teignmouth by an ancient toll bridge, reached via the A379 coastal road from Newton Abbot or directly from the A380/A381 junction. Popular with day-trippers from Torquay and Exeter, it offers good access to coastal walks and the historic hand-operated chain ferry that's been running for over 650 years.
