Selston is a former mining village in central Nottinghamshire, easily reached via the A38 from Derby or Mansfield, or the A610 from Nottingham city centre. The M1 motorway sits about 10 kilometres east for longer journeys. The 13th-century parish church houses a remarkable medieval stone effigy of an armoured knight with his loyal hound.
