Seaforth lies along the Merseyside coast between Liverpool and Southport, easily reached via the A565 coastal road. Most visitors arrive from Liverpool city centre, a straightforward 15-minute drive north through Bootle, whilst longer journeys typically use the M57 to Junction 7. The area sits beside the Irish Sea with the Mersey estuary to the south, enjoying the mild maritime climate typical of the northwest coast. Seaforth Docks serves as one of Britain's major container ports, where enormous cargo vessels berth alongside the distinctive red and white Port of Liverpool building.
