Scotstown occupies a remote spot on the Ardnamurchan peninsula, reached via the winding A861 from Fort William (40km) or through the scenic Appin route from Oban. The single-track road demands careful driving but rewards with stunning Highland coastal views. Most journeys here are long-distance affairs given the isolation, with the nearest substantial facilities back in Strontian. The village overlooks Loch Sunart, where seals frequently bask on roadside rocks.
