Schull sits at the tip of the Mizen Peninsula in west Cork, a small fishing village where the N71 from Cork city ends after a grand 100-kilometer drive through Clonakilty and Skibbereen. The R592 from Bantry offers an alternative route through the hills with fine views of the islands scattered across Roaringwater Bay. Local roads like the R591 connect you to Ballydehob and Goleen, though they're narrow and winding as you'd expect. The harbor runs a passenger ferry to Clear Island, where you'll still hear Irish spoken daily and see the old currach boats pulled up on the strand.
