Scarthingwell is a small North Yorkshire village reached via the A162 from either the A1(M) at Junction 42 or the A64 near Sherburn in Elmet. Set amongst the historic battlefields of the Vale of York, it's popular with visitors exploring Civil War sites at nearby Towton and Saxton. The village is home to Scarthingwell Park, a renowned equestrian centre that has hosted major horse trials for decades.
