Scarff lies on Shetland's remote Northmavine peninsula, reached via ferry to Lerwick then the A970 north for about 40km. The single-track roads require careful driving, especially in frequent mist, but connect to nearby Hamnavoe and Hillswick. Atlantic grey seals regularly haul out on the rocky shores beneath the dramatic coastal cliffs.
